Why are Real Madrid and Barcelona not playing in the first round of the 2023-24 Copa del Rey?

The first round of the 2023-24 Copa del Rey gets underway on Tuesday, with the current format of the com Pet ition allowing plenty of scope for “the magic of the cup” to happen. However, notable by their absence are the names of Real Madrid and Barcelona , who are nowhere to be seen on the list of fixtures despite other LaLiga sides entering the tournament in round 1. Since the 2019-20 season, all ties have been decided in one-off matches , with the exception of the semi-finals, which are played over two legs. With teams in the lower divisions playing at home , there has been lots of potential for cup shocks, which will again be the case this year. Champions League qualifiers Sevilla and Real Sociedad will travel to face Quintanar and Buñol, who both play in the sixth tier of the Spanish soccer pyramid, while LaLiga side Alavés will face Deportivo Murcia, the only seventh-tier team left. ⌛️ Tic, tac... vuelve la #CopaDelRey.#LaCopaMola pic.twitter.com/GOniKBmmmZ — RFEF (@rfef) Octob

Stephen Curry Odds & Props - NBA October 27, 2023

Image
By now, it should be obvious that the Golden State Warriors are past their run as an NBA dynasty. But they still have an all-time great on their team in Stephen Curry, who remains one of the best shooters and scorers in the league in his 15th season. We saw that on Tuesday, when the Warriors took on the Phoenix Suns and former teammate Kevin Durant. Golden State lost by four, and Curry didn’t shoot well, but he still put up a team-high 27 points in the loss. The Warriors are back in action tonight against the Sacramento Kings, and we’ll have to consider whether Curry can find his shooting form when evaluating the NBA odds tonight. Given what we’ve seen over his career, our NBA picks are going to bet that he does. Check out our NBA player props covering tonight’s Stephen Curry odds below to see where we’re putting our money.  Also, be sure to check out our Warriors vs. Kings picks for complete Game analysis! Women across Iceland, including the prime minister, go on strike for equal pay and no more violence

Women across Iceland, including the prime minister, went on strike Tuesday to push for an end to unequal pay and gender-based violence HUSAVIK, Iceland -- Schools, shops, banks and Iceland's famous swimming pools shut on Tuesday as women in the volcanic island nation — including the prime minister — went on strike to push for an end to un equal pay and gender-based violence . Icelanders awoke to all-male news teams announcing shutdowns across the country, with public transport delayed, hospitals understaffed and hotel rooms uncleaned. Trade unions, the strike's main organizers, called on women and nonbinary people to refuse paid and unpaid work, including chores. About 90% of the country's workers belong to a union. Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdóttir said she would stay home as part of the strike — “kvennaverkfall” in Icelandic — and expected other women in her Cabinet would do the same. Iceland, a rugged island of around 380,000 people just below the Arctic Circle, ha

F1 United States GP: This is Circuit of The Americas | Track length, laps, sectors…

The 2023 United States Grand Prix takes place at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas on Sunday , with Max Verstappen’s bid for a 15th race win in 18 Grand Prix hampered by a disappointing qualifying performance, which came as a surprise considering he was fastest in practice earlier on Friday. The Dutchman, who already has a third successive Formula One Drivers’ Championship wrapped up with five races left to spare, will start sixth on the grid, which may give others a chance to shine. Ferrari’s Charles Leclarc took pole position for the third time this year, but Mexico’s Sergio Pérez , who has come first in two of the three races not won by Red Bull Racing teammate Verstappen this year, will start all the way down in ninth. A rollercoaster of emotions for @Charles_Leclerc 🎢 On pole, not on pole... back on pole! 👀#USGP #F1 pic.twitter.com/qjvvmjLq29 — Formula 1 (@F1) October 21, 2023 Circuit of The Americas by numbers There are 23 Grand Prix on the 2023 Formula One c

MotoGP Australian GP: KTM's Binder tops FP2, Bagnaia into Q1

Image
South African rider Binder left it until the very end of the hour-long session on Friday afternoon to set the quickest lap of the day at the picturesque Phillip Island track, a 1m27.993s. That was just over two tenths shy of last year's pole record set by Jorge Martin, and enough to beat KTM stablemate Jack Miller by 0.148 seconds. The top spot changed hands multiple times in the closing 15 minutes of the session as riders equipped soft rear tyres to fight for one of the 10 available automatic spots in Q2. It looked like Pramac Ducati rider Martin, who topped FP1 in the morning, was on course to sweep the day's sessions when he posted a 1m28.249s to go four tenths clear of the field, but he didn't reckon on late improvements by Maverick Vinales and Binder.
