College Football Bowl Games best bets, odds and game picks including Texas vs Washington for Monday, 1/1

After a long and grueling regular season, the College Football Playoff is finally here. I’ve gone 8-1 in these bowl season columns so far — bringing me to 34-20 (about 63%) since Week 2. I’ve said all season that some regression was to be expected after we cashed at an unsustainable 63% rate a year ago, but we’ve been red hot in bowl season, so let’s keep that momentum going! With the holiday season behind us, the final days of Bowl season are here and we have a compelling slate ahead of us, including a ton of fun Game s at the Group of 5 and Power 5 level. With Monday’s Game s rapidly approaching, here is a look at my best bet for the plethora of Game s at our disposal, including the College Football Playoff semifinal Game s. And remember, you can check out all of our NCAAF predictions for picks on all of the action. Man City 2-0 Sheffield United: Player ratings as Phil Foden shines in routine win

Image
Manchester City cut the gap between themselves and league leaders Liverpool with a 2-0 victory against Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon. Rodri opened the scoring for the hosts with just 14 minutes on the clock, but the Cityzens were unable to double their advantage in the first half. However, the Blades could only hold out until the hour mark, Julian Alvarez grabbing a second to wrap up all three points. The result moves Man City level on points with Arsenal before the Gunners' clash with Fulham on New Year's Eve and just two points off Liverpool. How the game unfolded Unsurprisingly, Man City were the side that dominated early proceedings, Phil Foden's neat flick setting up Alvarez for the first shot of the Game just two minutes in. Despite some brief forays forward from Sheffield United, it was indeed the newly crowned world champions that took the lead with less than a quarter of an hour played. Manuel Akanji fired a pass into Foden, the Englishman's touch fal

Liverpool confirm when Mohamed Salah will leave for AFCON

Image
Liverpool have confirmed that Mohamed Salah will leave for Africa Cup of Nations duty after this weekend's meeting with Newcastle United. Egypt get their tournament underway on January 14 and a deep run in the tournament - they reached the final two years ago - would see Salah miss no fewer than seven Game s across all com Pet itions, including Premier League clashes with both Chelsea and Arsenal. "Mohamed Salah will link up with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations following Liverpool’s clash with Newcastle United." a club statement read. Liverpool will also lose midfielder Wataru Endo after the same game, with the Japan international due to report for Asia Cup duty. During Friday's press conference, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insisted it was impossible to draw up a plan to cope without Salah. "Each long-term plan I could have had depends massively on who is available so why should I think in October who should I use in January when Mo is away when I don’t kno

Xiaomi unveils first electric car, plans to become top automaker

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi took the wraps off its first electric vehicle on Thursday and promptly announced it was aiming to become one of world's top five auto maker s. The sedan, dubbed the SU7, is a highly anticipated model that is expected to make the most of its shared operating system with the company's popular phones. But the car is making its debut at a time when the world's largest auto market is wrestling with a capacity glut and slowing demand that have stoked a bruising price war. That didn't stop Xiaomi Chief Executive Lei Jun outlining big ambitions that include building "a dream car comparable to Porsche and Tesla". "By working hard over the next 15 to 20 years, we will become one of the world's top 5 auto maker s, striving to lift China's overall automobile industry," Lei said at the event. Like several other tech firms, Xiaomi has been seeking to diversify beyond its core Business to EVs - a plan it first flagge

Endrick reveals deciding factor in choosing Real Madrid over Chelsea

Image
Endrick has admitted he seriously considered joining Chelsea but was ultimately determined to pursue his dream of playing for Real Madrid. The Brazilian teenager will head to the Spanish capital in July once he turns 18, after the 14-time Champions League winners agreed a package with Palmeiras worth €60m (£52m), and will join up with fellow countrymen Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. Vinicius and Rodrygo both headed to Madrid at the same time of their respective careers and have gone on to become key players for Carlo Ancelotti. Endrick has been tipped to reach the very top of the Game , such has been his impact at Palmeiras, and there's great excitement over what he'll be able to produce in the coming years. But things could have been very different had Endrick taken up the chance to join Chelsea - a move his father previously revealed had been all but agreed. Speaking to The Athletic , Endrick commented on the speculation over where he would end up and revealed Chelsea was an op

Liverpool's 2024 January transfer window wishlist

Image
Liverpool were busy bees during the last transfer window , dedicating their summer to a midfield rebuild. As a result of some smart deals, the Reds now find themselves in an incredibly strong position in the Premier League and Europa League, perhaps making an unexpectedly quick recovery after an underwhelming 2022/23 campaign. However, there are still areas in which Jurgen Klopp could improve his team, especially as injuries begin to pile up. Liverpool brought four new signings in during the summer, but a January without any new faces could see them lose pace with Europe's elite. Here is where the Reds could look to strengthen this winter. Defensive midfield Alexis Mac Allister has been the primary defensive midfielder this term / Richard Sellers/Allstar/GettyImages While the Reds did spend approximately £150m on new midfielders in the most recent window , it still feels as if Klopp could do with one more in the holding role. Alexis Mac Allister has usually been used in the defen

Ranking the top 10 riders of the 2023 MotoGP season

Image
The 2023 MotoGP season proved to be one of the most com Pet itive campaigns for the series, as the championship battle between Ducati duo Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin raged until the final race of an historic campaign that also saw sprints introduced for the first time. Bagnaia ultimately won out by 39 points to score his second championship, capping off a banner year for Ducati in which it won a record 17 GPs across six of its eight rider s, achieved 43 total podiums and eight rostrum lockouts. There were standout performances elsewhere, with Aprilia winning twice with Aleix Espargaro and Honda scoring a sole victory in a miserable campaign courtesy of Alex Rins. New winners emerged too, while others put in commendable performances without ever getting to the top step of the podium. To decide who we consider the 10 best rider of the 2023 MotoGP season , we’ve taken results into account but also results relative to machinery at their disposal. A
