Voyager 1 was awakened by NASA from a distance of 13 billion miles, and the spacecraft actually sent a signal back

Image
Have you ever tried starting a car that’s been sitting unused for a couple of decades? There’s no guarantee that will even respond, let alone actually start up. That makes the feat NASA achieved just a few days ago even more impressive. The space agency contacted the Voyager 1 spacecraft in interstellar space after an amazing 37 years of inactivity to briefly activate its thrusters. The Voyager 1 was launched way back in 1977 to observe the outer edges of our solar system. It occasionally communicates with NASA’s Deep Space Network to receive routine commands and beams back data. But on November 28, NASA had to interact with the  spacecraft  and perform a minor course correction, firing up micro thrusters that hadn’t been activated since 1980. “ With these thrusters that are still functional after 37 years without use, we will be able to extend the life of the Voyager 1 spacecraft by two to three years, ” project manager Suzanne Dodd, said in a statement. Since 2014, sci...

Why scientists think that space agencies should send huмans to Venus Ƅefore Mars 2023-03-22

Image
Soмe scientists think that Venus is a Ƅetter candidate for huмanity’s next crewed мission. Scientists think space organisations ought to focus on Venus instead of Mars. But why would scientists suggest focusing on a planet that has hell-like conditions – a surface hot enough to мelt lead, atмospheric pressure that can crush anything, and clouds мade froм sulfuric acid .  What’s worse is that no huмan could set foot on Venus’ surface; it would мean instant death for Earthly life forмs.  The only option, then, for astronauts is to oƄserʋe the planet froм their space craft. Why Venus? Venus is the second closest neighƄour to Earth after Mars. While Mars is relatiʋely silent and quaint, Venus is what would eʋoke feelings of horrors in huмans. Regardless, there are nuмerous reasons why scientists think we should Ƅe faʋouring exploration of Venus instead of Mars. N.A.S.A For starters, Venus is a lot closer to Earth than Mars, and essentially мakes a round trip within o...

With a brilliant scientific trick, researchers may have discovered the key to allowing humans to breathe in space

Image
Scientists may have discovered a method for people to breathe on Mars in the future. Space travel is difficult for a variety of reasons, but one of the most significant is the absence of oxygen in space. Bacteria might be the solution to all of our space breathing issues. According to Mashable, scientists may use cyanobacteria to figure out how humans might quickly acquire oxygen in space . Cyanobacteria convert carbon dioxide into oxygen. Cyanobacteria are found in extremely difficult settings on Earth, thus it is predicted that they would be able to live on Mars. Some scientists have proposed transporting the bacterium to Mars to test whether it can produce oxygen for future people who could end up there. Experiments have previously demonstrated that cyanobacteria can flourish in a Martian environment. Cyprien Verseux, an astronomer, previously worked on one of these trials. He explained: “Here we show that cyanobacteria can use gases available in the Martian...

One planet loses its atmosphere as two planets collide in outer space.

Image
With a greater focus on asteroids and objects from deep space, as well as the possibility of a collision with Earth, astronomers have arrived for the first time at a planet that may have lost its atmosphere as a result of a collision with a massive object. A team of astronomers has discovered an Earth-like planet that may have lost some of its atmosphere owing to a collision 200,000 years ago. Astronomers from MIT, the National University of Ireland Galway, and Cambridge University uncovered evidence of the massive collision in a neighboring star system, only 95 light-years away from Earth. The star, known as HD 172555, is roughly 23 million years old, and astronomers believe its dust shows indications of a recent collision. According to the study published in the journal Nature, massive impacts are what cause planets like the early Earth to reach their ultimate mass and attain long-term stable orbital arrangements. One significant prediction is that these impacts will generat...

The search for a “alien spaceship that hit Earth and is laying at the bottom of the sea” has started.

Image
Off the coast of Australia, search operations have started for a “crashed extraterrestrial space craft.” Astrophysicist Avi Loeb is sure that a meteor that crashed in 2014 came from outside our solar system and had ET technology. The £1.9 million operation to recover the “UFO” that is submerged in the Pacific Ocean has been completely financed. According to NASA, the meteor traveled through the sky close to Papua New Guinea at a speed of more than 100,000 miles per hour before colliding with the Earth near Manus Island. According to US Space Command authorities, the meteor, which was about 1.5 feet wide, “was certainly an interstellar object.” Loeb said: “Our discovery of an interstellar meteor heralds a new re search frontier. “The fundamental question is whether any interstellar meteor might indicate a composition that is unambiguously artificial in origin. Better still, maybe certain technical elements might withstand the impact....

1st photo of Earth from space, 76 years ago

Image
Were you alive before we saw Earth from space ? If so, you were born on or before October 24, 1946. That was when a group of soldiers and scientists in the New Mexico desert launched a V-2 rocket – carrying a 35-mm motion picture camera – to a height 65 miles (105 km) above Earth’s surface. NASA defines the edge of space as 50 miles (80 km) above the surface. After a few minutes, the camera dropped back to Earth and was destroyed on impact. But the film survived. The 1st photo of Earth from space shows a look at the clouds from above. The image is from October 24, 1946. Image via White Sands Missile Range/ Applied Physics Laboratory/ Wikimedia Commons. Reliving the momentous day Air & Space magazine tells the story of this major event in space History : Snapping a new frame every second and a half, the rocket-borne camera climbed straight up, then fell back to Earth minutes later, slamming into the ground at 500 feet per second. The camera itself was smashed, but the fi...

Meteorites from outer space include all five essential components of our DNA

Image
According to scientists, all of the key elements of our DNA have now been discovered on meteorites. What exactly does this mean? Simply put, life on Earth might have originated in space . Over the previous century, space rocks that crashed on our planet Earth included the five basic components of DNA and RNA, scientists reported in Nature Communications on April 26. Adenine, guanine, cytosine, thymine, and uracil are the five “nucleobases” that, together with a few sugars and phosphates, combine to form the genetic code for all life on Earth. Scientists believe that these elements either arrived from space or grew on the planet in an early hot soup. The former idea now has further support as a result of these new discoveries. Adenine and guanine are two of the few chemicals discovered in meteorites since the 1960s, according to experts. Uracil was also detected, although cytosine and thymine remain “elusive,” according to Science News. NASA’s ...
